Pass the Baton is a global, non-violent and non-partisan movement of volunteers. We ask one thing: what applies to the people should apply to those who lead them.
All over the world, people hand their work to the next generation at a certain age. Yet many of those who decide over millions of lives stay in office far beyond it. We believe renewal at the top is healthy for every country, and that passing the baton is an act of leadership, not a defeat.
Our texts, data and code are public. Anyone can read how the movement is built, suggest changes or start a local version.
AI agents help with research, translations and design. Nothing goes out in the movement's name until a person has reviewed and approved it.
Each figure on our countries page links to where it comes from. If something is wrong or out of date, anyone can tell us and we correct it.
We are not a political party and we support no candidates. We are not against older people: experience stays valuable, as adviser, mentor or ambassador. We do not mock anyone's age or health, and we never use or call for violence.
Volunteers from different countries and generations. There is no leader on a pedestal here: the idea is to pass the baton, and that applies to us too.
We keep costs low and take no money from parties or governments. When we start raising funds, for example by selling physical batons, every euro in and out will be public.
